- It may be the problem of duplicate name exists on your network
- DNS Cannot Register or WINS Address is Duplicat
- For the first Error
- Right click on My Computer and click on Properties
- click on the Computer Name tab
- Error may be Full computer name
- So Click on"To rename this computer or join a domain, click Change" =>Change
- "Compute name Change" form appear.
- Change computer name => as you like but not same to another computer name
- "Workgroup" as you network group
- Press ok button
- It asked asked restart
- Then restart it
- Now your problem is solved
2. for second case- Right click on "My Network Places" then click on properties
- Right click on "Local Area Network" then click on properties
- There is three tab 1. General 2. Authentication 3. Advance
- You chose General Tab
- There you see " This connection uses the following items:"
- Choose "Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)"
- Click Properties button
- There you see two tab. 1 General 2. Alternate Configuration
- Click on General.
- Click on Advance
- There you see four tab 1. IP Settings 2. DNS 3. WINS 4. Option
- Click on DNS
- Unclick on "Register this connection's Address in DNS"
- Click Second tab WINS
- Unclick on "Enable LMHOSTS lookup
- click on "Disable NetBIOS over TCP/IP"
- Click ok, ok, ok
- run command prompt
- type the command => ipconfig /flushdns
- restart the computer
- Then it will not come the messege "A duplicate name exists on the network "
- restore the network as it change in above
- Now problem is solved
